Portals Nous and Port d'Andratx. The southwest coast is an easy first drive from Palma. The Ma-1 runs past Portals Nous marina towards Andratx, and the road suits a relaxed grand tourer. Quayside parking is limited in summer, so plan dinner stops with that in mind.
Valldemossa, Deià and Sóller. The Serra de Tramuntana is the island's classic driving region. Expect tight bends and slower stretches behind coaches and cyclists. Villages like Valldemossa and Deià have limited parking, so go early and stay flexible.
Pollença and Cap de Formentor. The north rewards a longer day. Pollença's old town makes a good coffee stop before the narrow cliff road to the Formentor lighthouse. Early starts mean calmer roads and easier viewpoint parking in high season.
Santanyí and Es Trenc. The southeast is flatter and more open, with wide country roads and honey-coloured stone towns. Santanyí suits a market morning. Es Trenc is a short drive on, though beach car parks fill quickly in July and August.
Alcúdia and the Bay of Alcúdia. The northeast is a calm, easy drive across the island's central plain. Walk the walled old town of Alcúdia, then follow the bay road. Midday traffic can be heavy in summer, so an early departure works best.
