Lake Starnberg. The closest lakeside drive from Munich and a natural first outing in a rented car. Lakeside towns such as Starnberg and Tutzing suit a relaxed lunch stop. Weekends in summer are busier, so a morning departure makes parking easier.
Tegernsee and Schliersee. Two Upper Bavarian lakes on the edge of the Alps, reached by autobahn and then smaller country roads. The loop works well for a half-day drive with a lakeside stop in Tegernsee. Allow extra time on sunny weekends, when traffic towards the mountains builds.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Zugspitze. The standard destination for ski-season transfers and mountain weekends. Winter conditions can change quickly, so check the forecast and road status before you leave. Park in the town and continue to the Zugspitze lifts on foot or by local transport.
Füssen and Neuschwanstein. A longer drive southwest, best planned as a full day. The castle area fills up in peak season, so an early start helps with parking and ticket queues. Pair it with a stop at Füssen's old town on the way back.
Salzburg. A day or overnight trip east along the autobahn, ideal for business or leisure travellers who want to combine two cities. Confirm cross-border terms with Super Car Drive Club before booking, and plan hotel parking in advance if you stay overnight.
