Garraf Coast and Sitges. The quickest way to get a feel for a performance car south of the city. Follow the coast towards Sitges, where the road alternates between cliffs and open stretches. Sitges is busy on summer weekends, so plan to park once and walk the seafront.
Montserrat Mountain Road. A winding climb to the monastery, with sharp light and long views over the Catalan interior. It is a driver's route rather than a sightseeing stop, so choose a quieter hour and leave time for the descent.
Penedès Wine Country. Vineyards and cava cellars around Sant Sadurní d'Anoia sit inland on easy roads. Visits are usually best arranged ahead, and whoever is driving should skip the tasting. Estate and village parking is generally simple.
Costa Brava: Begur and Aiguablava. Further north, the road narrows into pine-lined bends above small coves. Village lanes are tight, so park at the edge of Begur and walk in. Early starts help in July and August.
Girona and the Old Town. A calm run north to one of Catalonia's best-preserved medieval centres. Leave the car in a car park outside the historic core, then walk the lanes and the river quarter. It works well as a lunch destination or as a stop on the way to the Costa Brava.
